Do you remember someone being kind to you? How does that make you feel? Now let’s think the other way round. Have you ever been kind to someone? Let’s think!

Why do you even need kindness? How does that change your life?

Kindness, a simple act that makes someone and ourselves happy. Kindness can be as simple as a warm smile, a touch, or a word of encouragement, a wish, or just saying “I am there for you”. It is also a communication between two souls which is yourself and the other person you showing your kindness to. In this busy world and now during this pandemic, you don’t leave a lot of time to think about others. We are busy taking care of ourself and daily task. That's not to say you are selfish or ungrateful. But maybe it just means that the feelings of those around you can get lost in the shuffle of everyday life. Another important fact is, kindness is not always showing others, we can be kind to ourselves too. Through kindness, we can experience positive mental and physical changes by lowering stress levels because it gives you the satisfaction of your good deed. Showing or expressing kindness does not mean that we should do something big or life-changing. The smallest act of kindness gives a great outcome.

Self-Kindness. First and foremost, we should completely avoid comparisons. We are living in a world where it always reminds us what we have is enough and we are not living a perfect life. We are getting influenced by social media every day by people posting various things that make you wish to live like them. We must keep in mind that nobody lives a perfect life and every one of us has our ups and downs. Somewhere in the world, someone is wishing to live a life like us. Therefore, we should always appreciate what we have and make ourselves happy. Being stressed about unnecessary things like this eventually will destruct you. Greater self-kindness and self-compassion help us be more connected and happier human beings. But it’s also an important part of healing, of both the physical and emotional type.

Self- Kindness is the first step for us to spread kindness to others. Focus a little more on being positive and you will slowly notice the changes in your life. When you start doing little things to give a hand to others, it can completely make you feel good about yourself and the quality of your life will improve. Remember it's you and the inner feelings that will gloss and make the biggest difference to improve the relationships around you. Each day we can take a simple step to radiate happiness in a way to show how appreciative you are. This is not only towards our family or friends but to anyone around us. One of the simplest things we all can do is smiling. Just a smile. People says that the physical act of smiling activates pathways in your brain that effect your emotional state, meaning that adopting a happy facial expression. Smile is always contagious and let's spread it. YES, SMILE !😃

Be polite. Just imagine how it feels when someone smiles at you genuinely and greets you or maybe saying thank you. It will make you feel great and sometimes it can lighten up your day.  Polite individuals aren't just pleasant, they make a solid first, and lasting impression.

Then, practice to forgive and forget. Forgiveness is not easy especially when someone makes up feel bad. Hurt our feelings or emotions, mentally down, or even put us in the wrong state. Remember, when we fail to forgive someone, how they made us feel going to affect us more and going to be in our mind for a longer time. Good or bad, forgiving someone and yourself is a part of the healing process and will help you to move on and progress in your life. If that particular person is draining us daily, it is not wrong to move away. This is also a way of self-kindness. Forgive but stay away from people that bring you down. But when someone accidentally hurts us, remember being polite and using our manners can strengthen the relationship and make others realize their actions and not repeat it.

Show everyone equal respect. Never look down on someone because you think that you're better than they are or for any other reason. Everyone will be good and bad at something, we may be better at one thing and that other person will be better at another. Thus, treat everyone equally and compliment when someone is good at something. Bring a smile to their face and make their day better. Look to learn something from everyone you meet. They'll appreciate that you're taking the interest in them, but you will be the one who is well rewarded for your interest and respect.
